Arrival of Fire
22nd of September 2017Second attempt at Iniceration began like every other morning: Breakfast, walk to the hospital, find Felix, called Fire. He and his band of three went to the incinerator with us to burn the needle boxes.
In order of achieving sterility through fire seperated medical waist is needed. The plastic burns at high temperatures and destroys all viruses and bacteria.
We had none.
The waste separation system that is in place is not funtioning well. Patients throw food into the bins which renders the whole lot useless for incineration. Our crew turned to fire wood and rely on the plastic of the needels. The result was not ideal. With no fuel to fire the temperature did probably not reach the needed 600°C. Also the team favours the old and broken incinerator over the TeoG one(which burns cleaner) since the old one also functions with impropper bruning material. We informed the administration, gave advice on further needed steps and moved on.
Later our we stoped to inspect the work of the electrician and learn about his documentation systems. They are tidy and neat as well as usefull and easy to use. We took pictures to use the gathered infromation at other hospitals.
