A big step towards the implementation of the project
It has been a while since the last update. As we described in the last news report, in the last months we have been very busy with fund raising and funding applications.
We are happy to share with you, our dear friends and supporters, the good news that our application for support by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) has been accepted. This is a huge success for the implementation of the project!
The BMZ has let us know that they will fund 75% of the costs for the implementation of the project. This combined with the support from the Rotary Club Noerderstedt ensures the largest proportion of the financing. The building of the sand-storage dam is already fully financed thanks to your numerous donations via betterplace.org, for example. The only thing left to finance are the costs for the evaluation of the project.
Our task now is to plan the implementation of the project to the last detail, beginning with the activities concerning the construction of the first levels of the dam during this year’s rainy season. A team from our project group in Hamburg will travel again to Eritrea to follow and help shape the progress of the project on site.
