Inauguration of the centre and the flight home

*Since we neither had the time nor the internet connection to post our blog, this post is released after our return* On Thursday, we had a lot of free time since we finished the workshop with SADA on wednesday. Therefore, we decided to visit a nearby river. We drove to one of the neighbouring villages of Gapé on motorcycles, where we first had to introduce ourselves to the chief of the region. After our introduction, we went to the river, traversing some old traditional bridges. When we arrived at the river, we met some fishermen and had to take group photos with the fish caught by them. On the way back to the village, the SADA volunteers showed us a project of the West African union of currency (UEMOA), which consisted of the construction of large rice fields and storages. Thursday afternoon, we continued the teachers workshop. But since Thursday is market day in Gapé, only a few teachers came. Anyway, all the laptops were occupied, since the center is starting to be frequented by students too. On Friday, we inaugurated the center with SADA. We invited some local authorities, school classes and the members of a SADA alphabetization group. Some of the local authorities gave speeches, and we too had to give one. The women of the alphabetization group sang and the students demonstrated the usage of the center to the public. Also, many inhabitants of the village thanked us for our work. After the inauguration, we signed a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with SADA, which will determine the further development of the project. Elements of the MoU were for example the creation of reports by SADA each 3 months, or how TCB can support SADA with this project in the future.
After the inauguration, we quickly left Gapé to go to Lomé with the Togolese and German volunteers, and we two went straight to Kpalimé, to pass our last weekend in Togo. On Monday, we returned to Lomé. There, we made some last arrangements with SADA and met TeoG Togo who gave us some bills. After one last dinner with SADA, we were brought to the airport, where our stay in Togo ended with a flight we almost missed.
