Let’s go to Abodom!

Within in the next weeks, the TCB crew (Julian and Ina) will attend four schools in Ghana that have been equipped with computers during earlier projects over the last five years. This time, it is our aim to evaluate the impact that has been achieved in the meantime and provide all four schools in Ghana with a specialized server called the “knowledge box”. As an internet connection is not always available, this server provides learning material for all students – offline.

Currently we are in Cape Coast, visiting the St. Paul’s Catholic Basic School Nkanfoa.

28th Feb to 3rd March

The last workshop was held on Thursday, dealing with the classroom management software. The software is sophisticated, so this workshop was harder for the teachers than the previous one. Afterwards, the teachers supported our project evaluation by completing some questionnaires. The next day, Friday, was the day of Saying Goodbye. We became supermodels! Everyone wanted to have a photo with the ‘Obruni’ (local word for white man). We were promised a good cooperation for the future. It was a long Goodbye from the first school. During the afternoon, we visited a school for children with special needs. Maybe another TCB project can take place at this school, but both TCB teams, Ghanaian and German, still need to discuss that. The decision will be made after we return home. Saturday, we took a day off and went to the national park Kakum and took photos on high bridges above the tropical rainforest. In the evening, we took a trotro to Agona Abodom. (trotros are old vans, which are used as buses here). Not an easy task with our cumbersome luggage filled with laptops, but we managed. After a long trip along the coast line, we arrived safely and Derrick, the TCB team member in Abodom, picked us up. As Ina was in Abodom two years ago, it felt like returning home!
