Kitchen Hood for School Kitchen, Tanzania, Boma Ng’ombe

About the Project

Initial Situation

Trinity Academy is a Pre & Primary English Medium school located in Boma Ng’ombe / Hai District Kilimanjaro-Region. The meals for the students are cooked in a kitchen. For cooking, biogas and electricity is used (TZA 27,TZA 28), but for the big pots the use of firewood is still necessary. There is a window above the cooking place, but the smooke stays inside the kitchen. To improve the health of the cookers our local project partner asked TeoG for supporting him to solve this problem. During our last visit, we measured sizes and temperatures above the oven to be able to design a suitable kitchen hood. We already did several projects at Trinity Academy and Mr Anandumi Ndosi, the Director of this school has proven to be a reliable project partner

Project Goal

The project aims to plan and design an extractor hood, followed by its implementation and assembly in collaboration with local craftsmen and a TeoG member on site. In addition, the project includes modifying the existing fireplace to improve efficiency and reduce the amount of firewood required.
