Life Skills Education, Tanzania, Boma Ng’ombe

About the Project

Initial Situation

Trinity Academy is a Pre & Primary English Medium school located in Boma Ng’ombe / Hai District Kilimanjaro-Region. The school strives for sustainable operation and also supports kids with special needs, orphans, and kids with albinism. Many children grow up in challenging socio-economic circumstances. Access to further education, formal employment and stable sources of income is limited for a large part of the population. This makes it all the more important to teach children practical skills, creativity, self-efficacy and entrepreneurial thinking in primary school, in addition to their academic education. We already did several projects at Trinity Academy and Mr. Anandumi Ndossi, the Director of this school, as well as the head teacher and the supporting members of staff have proven to be reliable and highly engaged project partners.

Project Goals

The project aims to establish an educational concept that complements the academic education at Trinity by teaching essential life skills such as sewing, crafts, and music. It will equip the school’s workshop with the necessary tools to teach various types of craftsmanship and furnish a classroom with sewing machines and materials. In addition, the project will support the music class by providing musical instruments. Teachers will also be supported in developing the curriculum, with guidance on conceptualizing lessons and introducing special projects for the workshop and sewing classes to bring in fresh ideas and new inspiration.
