Arrival of real work

7th of September 2017

Last night it stared to rain – finally properly. And it didn’t stop until this evening. This mornig, as every other day, we started our work at 8 o’clock. We cleaned an old electric control board and removed everything else to use it for our circuit to automatically start up the generator. It will start after 30 seconds when the main grid turns of so the generator has time to heat up until the main technician of the hospital shows up to put load on the big green generator of the company Cummins.

In the meanwhile Arne/ Peter had to go to check on the incinerators because the hospital staff acutally started cleaning them and made them ready for use and proceeded to run an entire incineration cycle which worked exceptionally well.

After lunch there were no more chicken bones left so we started to work again. We did more teachings on the medical safety analyzer with the two main technicians of the hospital. Peter first revised the main settings with Emmanuel and Techi again and then we just left them with testing a medical fridge and giving some advice when necessary. Afterwards we went to different wards and the technicians measured and ECG and an ultrasound device with only few instructions necessary. In the workshop we finally measured an incubator and detected that the grounding wasn’t correcly connected.

At the end of the day we only wanted to connect the previously generated circuit for the generator. Unfortunately an error occured where the switch which connected the main grid with the hospital broke. It took quite some time to get it going again. But in the end we were able to show the hospital technicians our working automatic connection for the generator. Finally at 7 pm we celebrated our finished work and enjoyed our avocadowine!
