Arrival of the Farewell – Episode I

8th of September 2017

Today was our first last day of work. In our two weeks here in Techiman we have collected quite the list of smaller and bigger achievments.

The big green generator has been fitted with a self-made automatic starter. All needed parts could be found in the generator shed. The switchover between the grid and the generator can now be made from a single room and the generator warms up while the technician comes running.
Both generators have been fitted with a weely maintenance scheduel detailing the checks needed to ensure total functionallity.
The Maintenance Department has recieved the oil filter key that was donated by a friend of Heiko and has now een a lockable metal closet for the electrical safety analyzer, improtant tools and all their documentation.
Our analyzer training was successfully completed with performing safety checks in the theatre on anestesia and sucction machines. We have full confidence in Emmanuel and Techi to work with it regularly and improve the safety of patients and themselves.
Besides our main tasks we were also able to get the estate manager to check the incinerators and put them into use as well as checking the internal cleanliness of the incubators in the children intensive care unit. The question of who is responsible for it has not been answered but will be adressed by Corinna, a german nurse, in the next week.

We and the administration as well are satisfied with our achievments and we are leaving with here with a positve outlook for their further development. Our journey continues, so…
