Arrival of the Master

6th of September 2017 After our by now well known breakfast we walked over to our big green buddy. Yesterday during dinner we discussed our findings of the day and concluded that an issue for the generator is the short warm-up period that it is granted when needed. Since it our mission to get an impression and if possible immprove the situation of the generators in the visited hospitals, we decided it would be worhtwhile to build a starter system. It should be able to kick the generator into gear so it is properly warmed up when we show up.

But “Safety First”! Heiko installed friendly brithly yellow colored warming lables on the fuse and connector boxes in the generator shed to remind our colleagues that 400 Volts can be quite the danger if touched. They came with the generator – how nice!

After finding the right conectors on the electric panel of the generator we did some short planning and then discussed with Emanuel what we were planning on doing. He then told us about their plan to install the generator with an automatic switch over. Sadly, the price with 3500€ is too much for the hospital right now, so we will go ahead with our improvisation.

After collecting spare parts, breaking our brains and multiple set backs due to broken or malfuncitioning serial circuits we came out with a solution that will do the trick. It is simple, easy to use and will cut the time the hospital has to wait until the power comes back on. Tomorrow we will install it and test it together with Emanuel.
